The fatal fifteen

Feb 1 2017

A press release from CirculateSD had an interesting dataset included which caught my eye immediately.
The location of the fifteen most dangerous intersections for people walking in San Diego. I jumped on it to create a map.

Location

Here is the first map that only shows the location of the intersections. You can already see two clusters around University Ave and B Street.

As I read the report further I found the underlying data why these fifteen are the most dangerous ones. So I created a graph with datawrapper to show the amount and difference.

And I wanted to see how this data would look like on a map so I mapped the injuries and fatalities as well:

There is plenty of more to show with this data, but that is all the time I have for today. I would love to see the visualizations beeing used and embeded in the report and shared if you like.

I will send you updates about new maps and how to create your own.
